Sidra Medicine, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, has been awarded the Joint Commission International (JCI)’s Gold Seal of Approval for its hospital and academic medical center. JCI noted the efforts exerted by Sidra Medicine in order to become a foundation that follows standards for improving the quality of patients’ care and their safety. This seal of approval has been obtained after a successful assessment process conducted last November and this assessment process included the hospital’s facilities and verification processes on the safety of patients and the quality of the academic medical center.
Chief Medical Officer at Sidra Medicine Dr. Abdulla AlKaabi said that this accreditation constitutes a big achievement for a newly established hospital like Sidra Hospital, since this has helped in meeting the highest standards of safe clinical care, researches and medical education during two years after its fully opening. He added that this accreditation is the testimony of commitment to providing high-quality care, prioritizing the safety of patients and offering developed medical education.
JCI works on improving standards for the safety of patients and the quality of healthcare internationally, whereas the Commission requirements encourage the Hospital to achieve the highest international standards that aspire to make patients comfortable and ensure their safety. At the same time, JCI sets standardized expectations to structure the workflow and achieve the outcomes of generally accepted healthcare organizations.
